PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The chance to see the northern lights returns to the Pacific Northwest Monday night into Tuesday for some.

The unpredictable nature of the aurora borealis returns brings the chance of seeing the northern lights back to parts of Oregon and Washington on Monday night. Saturday's powerful geomagnetic storm helped spark the chance of seeing the northern lights over the Pacific Northwest over the weekend.

Those living east of the Cascades had a better show than those living along the Willamette Valley and that remains the case Monday night.

The northern lights viewing line cuts through the Beaver State Monday into Tuesday. The chance is slim for those living in Oregon's most populated areas. The greatest locations to potentially see the dazzling display will be east
