CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte ranks as the fifth most dangerous city in the United States for drunk driving, according to a new study that analyzed DUI arrests, alcohol-related fatalities and traffic deaths involving alcohol across 100 U.S. cities.

The study by Miami-based Amanda Demanda Law Group gave Charlotte a total risk score of 78.3, placing it behind Memphis, Detroit, Houston and Nashville in the rankings.

Charlotte's drunk driving arrest rate is 74, with drunk driving deaths per 100,000 residents at 75 and the percentage of deaths involving alcohol at 87, according to the study.
