About an hour and a half into “WelcomeFest”—last week’s “largest public gathering of centrist Democrats,” self-described—the inevitable happened. Protesters against the Israeli military campaign in Gaza breached the check-in area and took the stage to condemn New York Rep. Ritchie Torres, who had been speaking. “Free Palestine,” they chanted, as if on cue.
