If you've been online for longer than you care to admit, you undoubtedly have an account or two you don't use anymore. My password manager is full of logins that I haven't accessed in years, and I know I have accounts that I haven't even thought about, let alone logged into, that never even made it to that password manager.

We all like to think that the internet is forever, and that these accounts will always be waiting for us should we ever wish to return. Unfortunately, the internet doesn't work that way. Those accounts are hosted by companies that have financial and security interests that don't align with holding onto inactive accounts forever.
