DES MOINES, Iowa —

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a car on SW 9th Street in Des Moines on Wednesday afternoon.

The Des Moines Police Department says first responders were called to the scene of a crash at the intersection of SW 9th Street and Luster Lane around 6:30 p.m.

When first responders arrived, they found the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Two other passengers in the car were not injured.

The DMPD is continuing to investigate the crash. As of 7:45 p.m., SW 9th Street was closed in all directions at Luster Lane and is expected to be closed for up to two hours.
