Sunny skies and warmer temperatures return to the Portland area on Thursday as highs climb into the low to mid-80s this afternoon. As a ridge of high pressure pushes over the Pacific Northwest this weekend, persistent warm and dry conditions will prevail. This weekend's ridge will push temperatures in Portland nearly 20 degrees above average for early June.
Record-breaking conditions are possible as the peak of the heat arrives this weekend. Sunday's forecast high of 94 degrees may tie the current 94 degree record set in 1955.
