GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1347 in Grand Island will be celebrating 100 years on Saturday. The post formed on April 30, 1925.

Nationally, the Veteran Foreign on Wars is set to celebrate 125 years after being formed in 1889 by veterans of the Spanish American War.

John Larson, commander of VFW Post 1347 , said they will host a banquet for members of the post to celebrate the milestone.

“We will provide a meal for them,” Larson said. “Low cost but it’s just an opportunity to bring them in and say ‘thank you for your service.’“

Programs and services of the VFW continues to provide America’s heroes and their families with the necessary support they need, Larson explained.
