BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Most people go to the library to get book smart, but now you can go there to get street smart as well.
Folks at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Library are partnering up with the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, as well as the American Cancer Society, to make it possible for residents to rent out radon detector kits for your home.
Radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S., and two in three homes in North Dakota are found with above average levels.
"North Dakota has one of the highest levels of radon in the country. And these kits are ways to check for it in your home. Put the batteries in it, set it in your basement and it runs. It's recommended, it runs for about a week," said Head of Circulation Services Matt H
