At 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued an updated flash flood warning in effect until Friday at 1:15 a.m. for Chenango and Otsego counties.

"At 11:30 p.m., Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms produced heavy rain across the warned area. Little additional rain is expected, but between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," says the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."

Locations impacted by the warning include Guilford, Coventry, Unadilla, Rockdale, South Oxford, Mt Upton, Brisben and Smithville Center.
