You may want to check your air conditioner as summer temperatures continue to soar, because more than 1.7 million units are being recalled for the potential of mold growth.

The recall notice stated that Midea is recalling its U and U+ Window Air Conditioners, sold under several brand names including Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, Frigidaire, Insignia, Keystone, LBG Products, Mr. Cool, Perfect Aire and Sea Breeze.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission , pooled water in the window units can fail to drain quickly enough, which can lead to mold growth. Mold exposure poses risks of respiratory issues or other infections to some consumers.

The CPSC stated that the units are designed to fit in windows and were sold in three sizes of cooling power — 8,000, 10,000 and 12,000 BT
