This summer at Camp Keyauwee, girls with dirt under their fingernails are learning how to build a campfire, hiking through the woods, paddling canoes and falling asleep to a chorus of tree frogs and crickets in an environment blissfully free of Soulja Boy ringtones and iCarly reruns.
Camp Keyauwee, a 350-acre spread in Randolph County that serves Girl Scouts in a 13-county area, has been giving girls a back-to-nature experience for more than 60 years.
