PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- A Maryland lawmaker is reacting to Kilmar Abrego Garcia returning to the U.S. He was wrongfully deported more than two months ago to El Salvador due to an administrative error.
According to a report from The Hill, the Trump administration moved to return Abrego Garcia to the U.S. to face criminal charges stemming from a traffic stop that was made in Tennessee in 2022.
Court documents show that he is being charged with two counts related to the unlawful transportation of undocumented migrants.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released a statement about Abrego Garcia's return to the U.S. He said it is "about his constitutional rights & the rights of all."
