ALCOLU, S.C. — Clarendon County broke ground on a $250 million investment that brought international business to Alcolu. The German business Homanit chose South Carolina for its first U.S. plant.
The four generation manufacturer makes materials used in furniture, doors, and the automotive industry.
The new facility will start construction over at 1200 Spigner Road. The facility expects to bring 300 new jobs.
George Kosinski, Executive Director of the Clarendon County Development board, says he expects more growth to come.
“250 million and 300 jobs is really, probably the largest single investment we’ve had in the county, in I would say, the last twenty years," said Kosinski. "So, this will lead to not only growth in Alcolu. We’re talking hotel, retail sector, but also housing growth. T
