LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - National Donut Day was coined by the Salvation Army in the late 1930′s, and they continue that tradition today.
Customers at Happy Donuts who bought a dozen donuts were thrown an extra one for free, courtesy of the Salvation Army.
“Well, the reaction from the community has just been very humble and gracious, and awesome. They’re very friendly, and it’s just an opportunity for us to just be able to be a part of something that just is unique in itself, year in and year out,” said Major Michael Knott, the Salvation Army commanding officer for Lake Charles.
The Salvation Army thanks everyone who came out and participated.
