MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Members of Riding 22 States in 22 Days for Veterans Suicide Awareness is hoping to raise awareness about what they say is a growing crisis in the United States: veteran suicide.

Their initiative, “Riding 22 in 22 Days,” aims to spotlight mental health challenges facing veterans and support those silently battling trauma long after their service ends.

Organization officials say the number 22 represents the number of veterans who take their own lives everyday. Organizers say the number may be even higher and they’re determined to do something about it.
