GOLDONNA, La. (KALB) - Goldonna Elementary School, a longstanding school in northern Natchitoches Parish, has officially closed its doors due to a combination of declining student enrollment and financial challenges.

Over recent years, Goldonna Elementary experienced a significant decrease in student enrollment, dropping from 135 students in May 2022 to 99 students by August 2023. This decline directly impacted the school’s funding through the Minimum Foundation Program (MFP) , which allocates state funds based on student numbers. As enrollment decreased, so did the MFP funding, worsening the school’s financial difficulties.
