With the Yankees leading the Red Sox, 7-0, Anthony Volpe exited Friday’s game in the top of the fourth inning.

The Bombers’ shortstop took a hit-by-pitch to his left elbow in the bottom of the third when Walker Buehler misfired an 88.8-mph changeup. The inside pitch came with the bases loaded and forced a runner in. It also left Volpe in some pain.

The Yankees’ training staff checked on Volpe as he slowly made his way to first, but he initially stayed in the game before being replaced by Oswald Peraza.

Volpe was having a nice night before the hit-by-pitch, as he drilled a two-run homer off Buehler in the first inning. He now has eight longballs this season.
