As school is out for summer, many students lose more than just the classroom; they lose access to reliable meals. But, JCPS is working to make sure no child goes hungry.
“JCPS steps up every summer to offer meals to every child in Jefferson County, 18 years old and under. It's a lifesaver for many of our families,” said JCPS Superintendent Marty Pollio.
With 63 percent of JCPS students eligible for free or reduced-price meals, food insecurity is a very real concern.
Since 2023, all students have qualified for free breakfast and lunch under community eligibility. But when school lets out, that access disappears for many.
