When Texas softball right fielder Ashton Maloney stepped up for her second at-bat in Game 3 of the Women's College World Series , she made it count.
The Longhorn pulled a fourth-inning pitch to right center, legging out a double and earning her 93rd hit of the season. Third baseman Mia Scott brought her home soon after with a grand slam that gave Texas a 10-0 lead.
With the aforementioned hit, Maloney etched herself into Texas' history books as its single-season hit queen, with the record previously held by Janae Jefferson. She's a four-time All-American infielder who's the Longhorns' career leader in batting average (.431), and powered them to a runner-up finish in the 2022 WCWS.
