TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Friday was “Secure Your Load” Day nationwide, and the Idaho Transportation Department wants to keep drivers safe.

From 2018 to 2022, debris that fell from vehicles in Idaho caused 82 injuries and even two deaths. Most of these were non-commercial vehicles.

If you are carrying a load, Idaho law requires that it be fastened so that it cannot become loose or hazardous while driving. Be sure to check your load is secure from every angle.

“Some people are like, ‘Oh, we’re just going a block or two,’” said Courtney Wagner from the ITD District 4. “No, make sure it’s strapped down because it doesn’t matter if it’s time or distance. It doesn’t matter; it could happen at any second. Make sure everything’s tied down.”
