SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Friday night marked the first Home Run for Life celebration of the season at Four Winds Field.

6-year-old Malachi Sahlhoff was tonight’s slugger, driving his little electric car around the bases.

For 12 years, the South Bend Cubs and Beacon Children’s Hospital have partnered to bring fans such as Malachi a fun, heartwarming celebration through Home Run for Life.

Every year, six current or former Beacon Children’s Hospital patients are recognized at Four Winds Field for their courage and determination in battling health chances.
