GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The weather is warmer, which means grilling season is here. Whether you've been using your grill year-round or are just dusting it off for the season, cleaning your grill is essential.

"A clean grill performs better, it lasts longer and it's going to give you better tasting food. You don't want to be grilling on all of the food particles that have been building up over time," Bob Kuerbitz, owner of Great Lakes Grills, said.

Depending on what type of grill you have, there are different ways to clean it and keep it in tip-top shape.

Charcoal grills are the easiest to clean, Kuerbitz said.

"You're basically just going to need to clean the grates," he said.
