Mayer launched one way into the short porch at Yankee Stadium in Friday night’s series-opening loss to the New York Yankees — a hefty shot that helped kickstart a half-hearted rally.
Roman Anthony, his former teammate and roommate, is still working on his craft down in Triple-A Worcester, so he missed the moment live. Polar Park gave him some tremendous ambiance when he did finally watch it , though, at its fireworks show went off in the background while he passed around his phone like a proud parent.
