SPIRIT LAKE NATION — Spirit Lake tribal council members said hiring a public relations specialist to represent them has made a significant difference within just a few months, allowing the council to keep tribal members — both those living on and off the reservation — informed.

"It's made a big, huge difference, I think," said Darren Walking Eagle, Crow Hill District representative and the council member who first proposed hiring a PR specialist. "It will just continue to grow."

Vicki Alberts, a 2024 UND law school graduate, sat down with the tribal council on her first day to determine what its goals were for the PR department.
