ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — Two people were arrested in connection to a shooting on Thursday in the 1200 block of Byrd Street, according to the Elizabeth City Police Department.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area. After investigating, officers determined that multiple people had discharged firearms. Two suspects ran into a home on Byrd Street, where they were later surrendered to authorities.
Derontae Norfleet, 18, was arrested and charged with two counts of shooting into an occupied property. He is currently being held at Albemarle District Jail without bond. Norfleet is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 9.
