Video posted by the Leander Police Department shows the dramatic rescue of a baby raccoon from a tree in Leander by animal services.

Police say that residents in Leander heard something fall and hit the ground outside of their home early Friday morning.

When they looked around, they saw a raccoon and her two babies run off. They then heard continuous crying, and found a baby raccoon stuck in a large tree nearby.

Leander Animal Services was called in for assistance. They observed that the baby animal was stuck in the tree approximately 25 feet above the ground.

The resident said the raccoon had tried to climb down the tree, as well as on the roof of the home, but was too small to make the complete climb to the ground.
