LINCOLN, Ill. (WCIA) - Champaign Central baseball is one win away from state after a hard-fought contest on Saturday in Lincoln.
The Maroons met Mahomet-Seymour in a class 3A sectional championship in Lincoln. Neither team scored for the first ten innings.
It wasn't until the bottom of the 11th that Central senior Luke McClure broke the scoreless tie with a walk-off solo home run.
The victory came after Patrick Kennedy delivered a dominant start to keep the Bulldogs off the board. Mahomet-Seymour's Max Young got the start and kept the Maroons scoreless for much of the game.
Maroon baseball will now play Troy-Triad on Monday in Decatur, at 6 p.m. for the Super-Sectional. The winner of Monday's game will advance to the 3A state semifinals which begin on Friday, June 13 in Joliet.
