ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) -- A benefit held at Mimi's Lounge helped raise money for the Elmira Animal Shelter on Saturday.

An area outside of Mimi's Lounge was sectioned off for eventgoers to partake in the festivities on Saturday, June 7. People were seen buying tickets for more than 20 raffle items that were donated by local businesses and a few places in Binghamton.

Live music was featured, and beverages were served with a portion of the funds going towards the animal shelter. The money raised will be allocated towards the shelter’s capital building fund for improvements to its building.

"They really support the community. This is a great place to come to be a part of Elmira and support the animals," Jamie Waite said.

"It's a good worthy cause, great music, the band's amazing," added Rich
