IFD: Crews rescued family of 4 during apartment fire

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Fire Department crews rescued a family of four from an apartment fire on Friday night.

In a Facebook post, IFD indicated that its units responded the 4100 block of Mission Drive on the northwest side of Indianapolis around 7:21 p.m. The Speedway and Pike Township fire departments also responded to the scene after dispatchers received multiple 911 calls about a fire in the area.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters located smoke and flames emanating from a vacant apartment on the bottom floor of a structure. During the incident, firefighters rescued a family of four that was trapped on a second-story balcony.
