GREENSBORO, N.C. — President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday, rolling back regulations on supersonic flight.
The new executive order directs the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to lift the ban on overland supersonic travel and update noise rules for these high-speed aircraft . The order also calls for more coordination on supersonic research, development, and testing , according to the White House.
Blake Scholl, the founder of Boom Supersonic, responded to the announcement on X.
Boom Supersonic has a supersonic airliner factory close to the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, which opened in 2024.
