PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — A body was discovered and pulled from the Willamette River onto the swimming dock at Cathedral Park, according to Portland Police.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) River Patrol and the medical examiner responded to the scene.
Officials indicated that the body appeared to have been in the water for an extended period. "There are indications that the body had been in the water for some time," said a Portland Police spokesperson.
The MCSO will lead a death investigation in collaboration with the medical examiner's office.
The medical examiner is tasked with determining the identity of the deceased, as well as the cause and manner of death.
