LIHUE — First responders rescued injured 42-year-old North Carolina visitor, an injured Oahu resident, and 60-year-old Oahu resident suffering from exhaustion near Kalalau Beach on Thursday, June 5.
According to a preliminary report, Kauai Fire Department personnel received a report of an injured hikers on the Kalalau Trail shortly before 8:45 a.m.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1, Hanalei Fire Station firefighters, and personnel with American Medical Response responded to the incident.
Upon arrival, firefighters located the two hikers with apparent leg injuries and the distressed hiker. Rescuers loaded the hikers into Air 1 and transported them to Princeville Airport, where Engine 1 and Truck 1 assisted in transferring care to AMR medics.
The scene was cleared at approximately 12:15 p.m.
