A social media feud turned deadly on Sunday as two people were gunned down in front of the Las Vegas Strip’s famed Bellagio fountains by an assailant who later turned himself in, police said Monday.
Manuel Ruiz, 41, was charged with two counts of open murder with a deadly weapon after surrendering at a Henderson Police Department station, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release Monday morning. He was booked at the Clark County Detention Center.
Indications were that Ruiz and the victims “had previously engaged in some type of conflict using a variety of social media platforms ,” undersheriff Andrew Walsh told reporters in a briefing on Monday, calling it an “isolated incident.”
