WATERFORD - Avery Turk charged to the net and got knocked to the ground, banging heads with the goalkeeper.
The New Boston Huron junior was unfazed.
“I thought, ‘It doesn’t matter if I hit heads. I’ve got to get to the net,’” she said.
True to her word, Turk went right back to the net about three minutes later and scored the only goal of the game as Huron beat DeWitt 1-0 in the Division 2 state semifinals on Tuesday, June 10.
“It was almost the same play,” Huron coach Matt Lividini said. “She got in there and had some contact, but went right back again.”
