SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - 1:30 p.m. Update: The Marie Fire is 60% contained, according to a Wednesday, June 11, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) news release.

BLM and Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) firefighters have stopped the forward spread and secured the perimeter of the 115-acre blaze.

Ground crews are working to increase containment by securing control lines and mopping up remaining hot spots.

To date, 120 fire personnel have responded including seven engines and a helicopter.

Overall fire activity remains low, but creeping and smoldering pockets of heat remain.

During the afternoon heat, there’s light smoke caused by smoldering fuels.

“Hot, dry weather with low relative humidity and gusty winds remains a concern for fire activity,” according to the the release.
