HOLLYWOOD—The star of the 80s’ family sitcom “The Cosby Show,” Malcolm Jamal Warner has died after an accidental drowning on Sunday, July 20. He drowned after being caught in waves while he was in Limon, Costa Rica vacationing with his family.
Warner was 54 at the time of his passing, and his death was ruled accidental due to asphyxia as a result of drowning.
The actor’s body was recovered Sunday afternoon ABC News reported. No additional details about the incident have been disclosed to the public. The actor is known for his role and Theodore Huxtable on the comedy series alongside Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Lisa Bonet and Raven Symone from 1984-1992. He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 1986 for his work on the show.
