NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A Jamaican citizen living in New Haven has been federally charged with illegally reentering the United States after being deported.
Thirty-seven-year-old Dwayne Claud Singh faces the federal complaint, according to a release Wednesday by the Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
Singh was reportedly arrested on Wednesday and appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in New Haven federal court. He was ordered detained pending a hearing scheduled for next Monday.

Court documents and statements alleged that in 2014, Singh was convicted in Connecticut Superior Court of drug, weapon and forgery offenses. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
