DECATUR, Ala. - A dramatic vehicle pursuit in Decatur led to the arrest of James Michael Simmons, 44, on Monday after authorities say he attempted to evade law enforcement officers.

Agents from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit were conducting a narcotics operation when they encountered Simmons. He fled the scene, prompting a chase with emergency lights and sirens.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, the pursuit continued north on 6th Avenue, crossing the Hudson Memorial Bridge into Madison County. Morgan County 911 alerted Huntsville Dispatch as Simmons traveled east on I-565, where Huntsville and Madison City police joined the chase.
