STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— St. James-Smithtown is now one win away from making its trip across the Belt Parkway well worth the tolls and traffic, as the Long Island-based squad pulled off a 2-0 upset over White Plains in Thursday morning’s semifinal at Great Kills LL, handing its opponent its first loss of the tournament.

Smithtown’s hero was starting pitcher Kevin Moran, who delivered a masterful, complete-game shutout, striking out eight and allowing just six hits — all while issuing no walks and staying under the 85-pitch limit in one of the most efficient outings of the tourney.
