JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A newly released poll of registered Republicans in Florida shows Casey DeSantis has a slight edge over Trump-backed candidate Byron Donalds for the 2026 Republican nominee for governor.
The poll, released by the University of North Florida's Public Opinion Research Lab (PORL) Thursday morning, asked a random sample of nearly 800 active registered Republicans about issues ranging from immigration to policy, and favorability of people and places.
Participants were asked about their preference for the 2026 Republican primary for governor. According to the poll, 32% of participants said they would vote for Florida's first lady if the election were held today. Donalds received a total of 29% of the total sample, and Matt Gaetz received 8%, the poll states. Eighteen percen
