The Lompoc City Council voted to cut its longstanding financial support for the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce by nearly half ahead of its June 30 contract deadline, putting the organization’s future — and its programming — in jeopardy.
The approved $60,000 contract for fiscal years 2025–27 represents a major reduction from the $108,000 annually the Chamber has received for decades. The new agreement eliminates city-funded support for economic development, small business services, and program coordination. The cut also removes $35,000 for a retail strategy consultant and $7,700 for pension liabilities, both of which will now be absorbed into other parts of the city’s budget.
