Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to speak from the Everglades immigration detention center dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz" at 9 a.m. Friday.
His office says he will be joined by Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Wilton Simpson, Florida Department of Financial Services Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia and Florida State Board of Immigration Enforcement Executive Director Larry Keefe.
Florida's immigration detention facility located at an isolated Everglades airfield surrounded by mosquito-, python- and alligator-filled swamplands went from a video on X to reality in a matter of days, and has had an eventful few weeks since it opened.
