A new owner is in talks to acquire and reopen a glass factory in Washington County — closed in April following months of shutdown delays and uncertainty , sources close to the matter said Thursday, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the deal is not finalized.

Over the course of seven months, hundreds of employees at the Corelle Brands glass factory — open for more than a century in Charleroi — were laid off as the plant prepared to close.

Anchor Hocking, an Ohio-based glass manufacturer and operator of the factory, announced plans in September to shut down the facility where Pyrex glass dishes and bakeware were made, and to move all services to a sister plant in Lancaster, Ohio.
