Sam Altman, CEO of ChatGPT creator OpenAI, said this week that he’s worried about artificial intelligence-generated audio empowering crooks to steal your money and commit other fraud.
Altman is right to sound the alarm about AI-generated voices that can impersonate you, including in customer service calls to banks. Altman missed an opportunity, however, to stress AI companies’ responsibility in combating new fraud that his industry helped create.
