After pausing $6.8 billion in federal education funds to Nevada and other states, the Trump administration announced July 25 that all the money would be released.
Nevada faced a potential loss of $60 million, including $6 million for Washoe County School District, if the preapproved funds hadn’t been restored.
The money was set to go out July 1. But the U.S. Department of Education said a pause was necessary in order to review whether the funds fit with President Donald Trump’s policy priorities.
Funds supporting before- and after-school programs were released July 18.
In an email to USA Today on July 25, the White House confirmed that the review had been completed and all other education funds on hold would be released in the coming days.
