BEREA — The Browns quarterback competition will be altered for the short term. It has nothing to do with performance, though.

Kenny Pickett sustained a hamstring injury late in practice Saturday, July 26, a league source confirmed for the Beacon Journal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report.

Pickett is expected to be re-evaluated later in the week. The Browns were off on Sunday, July 27, but practice three consecutive days starting Monday, July 28.

The injury is believed to have occurred late while the Browns were running an 11-on-11 series from the 20. It was, ironically enough, maybe the best series of training camp for Pickett.
