BOULDER, Colo. — University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders held a news conference on Monday, revealing health issues that have kept him from the team this offseason.

Sanders disclosed that he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer but that after surgery, his oncologist considered him cured.

Sanders, 57, brought his medical team with him Monday to discuss his diagnosis.

Dr. Janet Kukreja, the director of urologic oncology at the CU Cancer Center/UCHealth University of Colorado hospital, said Sanders had his bladder removed as part of the surgical plan.

Sanders said he dropped 25 pounds and is still dealing with issues after the surgery.
