A man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Alexander Lo, the older brother of Kai-Ji Adam Lo, who is accused of a deadly attack during the Lapu-Lapu Day festival. Alexander Lo, 31, was discovered dead in a residence near Knight Street and East 33rd Avenue in Vancouver on January 29, 2024.

Dwight William Kematch, 39, was arrested at the scene and charged with the murder. He entered his guilty plea on Friday. A sentencing hearing for Kematch is set for August 11 at 10 a.m. PT in Vancouver. The cause of Alexander Lo's death has not been disclosed by investigators.

This incident follows the arrest of Kai-Ji Adam Lo three months prior. He is accused of driving his SUV into a crowd at the Lapu-Lapu Day festival, resulting in the deaths of 11 people and injuries to many others. Kai-Ji Adam Lo faces 11 counts of second-degree murder and is currently undergoing a court evaluation to determine his fitness to stand trial.

Reports indicate that at the time of the festival incident, Kai-Ji Adam Lo was under the supervision of a mental health team. Additionally, the FBI has alleged that Kematch sent death threats via Facebook to the mayor and city council of Hamtramck, Michigan, just three days before Alexander Lo's murder.
