BUFFALO, N.Y. — When Christopher Scanlon addressed a crowd on primary night about coming up short, many peopled chanted, 'it's not over.'

"That type of support has been beyond humbling and something that I could never repay voters," he said.

For Scanlon, the hard decision came a few days later not to stay on the independent line for the general election in November.
