NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A judge decided a choir teacher accused of sex trafficking minors will be held without bond Monday, July 28.
A "Gwen's Law," hearing was held to determine if Kagler is a threat to his alleged victims. The judge decided that he is and that he's also a flight risk.
The judge also took into consideration that five of the charges, which include rape and sex trafficking, could result in life sentences.
Kagler's attorney argued that the last allegation was over five months ago and therefore he is longer a threat nor a flight risk.
The investigation started after the mother of a juvenile reported what prosecutors say are sexual texts between her son and Kagler.
